the word change
Meah Enya Brooks

My legs have never heard the word walk
And yet they do
My hands have never heard the word hold
And yet they can
My mouth has never heard the word speak
And yet it does

But I have heard the word change
More than most words I know
I have heard it from my own mouth
And the mouths of others

And though my mouth has spoken change
My legs have not walked it
Nor have my hands held it

I have heard the word change
But I can’t

No

I have heard the word change
But I don’t.
